Midweek Silent Preached Retreat for Women

April 9 - 11, 2024

Theme:  "All Shall Be Well"

The Spirituality of Julian of Norwich

Julian of Norwich, a 14th century mystic, lived in a chaotic world wracked by three waves of the bubonic plague and ravaged by a war between England and France that was to last 100 years.

While ill, Julian received a series of sixteen visions in which she came to better understand God’s will for us. She struggled with human sin and suffering in light of God'’ great love. In her A Book of Showings she writes that the Lord answered all her questions and doubts by saying, “I will make all things well and you will see yourself that every kind of thing will be well.”

Julian’s wisdom springs fresh as ever from the 14th century, and speaks to our own doubts, fears, and times of anxiety. Hers was a hopeful message piecing the darkness of a troubled world.

Come take time to lay down your burdens, and to be comforted by a God of love and mercy through the wisdom of this earthy woman of faith.
