"Exploring Our God Given Gifts"

St Teresa of Avila told her novices: “Self-knowledge is so important that even if you were raised right up to the heavens, I should like you to never relax your cultivation of it.”

The more we pursue self-knowledge, the more we come to know God for we are made in God’s image and likeness. We also come to appreciate others in their struggle and process and learn together to live as the Body of Christ in the world.

Self-knowledge helps us to discover our “true self”, the self that God created us to be. As we discover our gifts as well as our compulsions, we cooperate in the transformation God is trying to effect in us.

The enneagram is an ancient tool, used in many faith traditions to understand human nature further. Its description on nine basic types of people can help us understand ourselves more fully and to understand the dynamics of our relationships with others. Using this tool is fun and interesting! It teaches that we are not wrong for being different from one another, but rather that we are each complex, deep and awesome creations of God.
